Site Operations

Since its formation in 1983, NSG has provided a wide range of site services to the nuclear industry. From the early days of decommissioning at weapons establishments, to the present day, NSG has been at the forefront of decommissioning and waste management operations.

Our service encompasses a turnkey approach, whereby site operations are supported not only by engineering and health physics expertise, but also by professional project management.

Site Operations
NSG's Site Operations include:

Design and supply of equipment

Installation and commissioning of plant and equipment

Decontamination & size reduction

Refurbishment of existing facilities

Decommissioning and waste management

Health physics support

With over 20 years of experience we have operated on most of the UK nuclear licensed sites and have particular experience of working with British Nuclear Group & AWE. Our site operations team is manned by multi-skilled staff who not only have core expertise in mechanical engineering or Health Physics, but are also trained and qualified in other disciplines. This leads to the efficient use of resource, minimising programme times and reducing cost.

Typical projects recently completed:

Use of ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicles) for inspection, dismantling and size reduction.

Provision of technical and health physics resource team for site decommissioning

Design/refurbishment/upgrading of ventilation systems

Dismantling and waste packaging of depleted Uranium workshops

Retrieval & transfer of wet wastes from tanks & ponds

Removal and size reduction of contaminated tanks

Maintenance of effluent samplers on all British Nuclear Group/British Energy power stations

Decontamination of laboratories contaminated with Tritium and C

One of the key features of NSG's success has been our ability to integrate into the client's team, operating with a single purpose to meet the project's objectives in terms of safety, programme and cost. This approach has seen huge benefits at a number of sites including Trawsfynydd, Hunterston, Aldermaston and many other sites throughout the UK.
